Again when awaking from sleep. Before the whole mind came online, so to speak. I simply saw that everything lacked inherency, it was in a sense "flickering" and seemed very unreal. It was deeply frightening and very unpleasant.

The experience is beginning to fade from memory, so it is difficult to describe it accurately, and I think my understanding of emptiness is mostly intellectual. I do not believe that anything has inherent, substantial existence. It is all conditioned (this is because that is) and all labelled. But when I look at this screen (or the phenomena that make it up) it still appears solid (of course this is dependent, since I can close my eyes and it will pass away until I open them again).

So here I am more unsure. I would have to deeply understand what realizing stage six directly means in terms of actual experience, and that actual experience cannot be different from what it already is, as it would be a mere passing state, like my waking up from the dream.Vidarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14365095929396870623noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3225985453951330898.post-89134935846170785972013-08-08T00:58:32.521+08:002013-08-08T00:58:32.521+08:00Glad that my diary, Thusness's stuff etc are t...Glad that my diary, Thusness's stuff etc are to your liking.Sohhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16416159880942160813noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3225985453951330898.post-14376957124378137862013-08-08T00:53:36.353+08:002013-08-08T00:53:36.353+08:00Depending on various inclinations and conditions, ...Depending on various inclinations and conditions, I still ask some people to practice self-inquiry, read Advaita, Ramana Maharshi etc. And I have many advises on that in my e-book which you should know. Though I do not agree that those Advaita teachers ultimately point to "Anatta", "Emptiness" etc.

Would you mind sharing your insight into anatta and what triggered it, when it happened and how is experience like for you now? That should be interesting.
Sohhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16416159880942160813noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3225985453951330898.post-24775697388169425662013-08-07T19:51:09.239+08:002013-08-07T19:51:09.239+08:00"However, what the Advaitins are saying is pr..."However, what the Advaitins are saying is precisely that - Awareness is inherently existing, changeless, independent, singular, irreducible, etc."

If they are truly saying this, and not using it as a mere tool as an aid to realization, then they are mistaken. So yes, the blank is reflected upon waking up.

It is an inference that knowingness is always present in deep sleep, this is not experienced other than a thought reflecting a past state and imposing one's self-view of an eternal awareness on it. Even when knowingness is experienced in sleep it is but a momentary manifestation.

In anatta it is realized that there is no background, no seer/witness apart from ongoing fluxes of states that knows and rolls on its own accord without a knower. In seeing just scenery, in hearing just sound, in deep sleep just deep sleep and there is no changeless awareness underlying all of them.

Generally one will need to go through certain phases of deepening insights to understand this, like http://awakeningtoreality.blogspot.com/2007/03/thusnesss-six-stages-of-experience.htmlSohhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16416159880942160813noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3225985453951330898.post-22475494368902117312013-07-23T15:52:58.051+08:002013-07-23T15:52:58.051+08:00Thanks Soh.
